My thoughts are with my dear brother and niece Karen and all who grieve the passing of Joyce, my dearest sister in law. You will never be forgotten.

I treasure my many special memories of dearest Joyce. She always made sure I was invited to family gatherings at Christmas and Thanksgiving in Calgary, Galt (now Preston), Sudbury, Niagara Falls, Lindsay and Kingston. Joyce was the best sister. We enjoyed lovely reunions and adventures going to visit our American cousins when they came to Westport in the summer and when we went to New York State to see them. I remember visits to cottages in the summer too. Joyce's creative talents were many and awesome from her sculptures, to her paintings to the clothes she made. I remember when she was living in Calgary when George was working there Joyce was commissioned to work on a huge installations at a major museum. When Joyce had her stroke, I had very tender visits with her at Extendicare where we would just hug each other. I will miss you dear Joyce and never forget you.

In the 1970’s, Joyce would often sew her own designs and make wonderful outfits and gowns, that she would wear to parties, functions and her gallery openings; she was a founding member of the Lindsay Gallery, even painting the sign for the art gallery building.
A single pink rose was placed on her chest after she passed away. Joyce left her Earthly body holding this pink rose, a symbol of her feminine qualities, her loving spirit, her delicate strength…

Joyce was a very talented artist. After graduating high school, she attended Emily Carr School of Art on full scholarships.
Throughout her life she completed several paintings and sculptures. How very talented she was!
This is Mary, Bronze Cast full body statue, a real beauty!

This is Joyce at Baypark Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and occasionally performed a solo such as this one… circa 1985.
The choir director praised her lovely soprano voice, and commented on her mischievous fun spirit! She was a real JOY and she sure did have a great voice! One of her favourite songs was Amazing Grace and we would often sing that together in her final few years.
