Even though I only had the pleasure of knowing Paul for one short year, it still seemed like a lifetime. He had the intuitive gift of sensing someone and knowing how to reach them, sharing a fascinating story and part of his journey with you. When Paul led the Saturday prayer group, he always gave me a nod at the end to close with a doxology he knew I loved to recite. He had a gift with people that way, including them where he was. He loved the Lord and will be terribly missed by fellow saints at Bath Rd. Baptist Church. We know you are rejoicing and dancing in heaven Paul, in the glorious presence of our Blessed Saviour Jesus Christ.

I taught with Paul at S.T.A. for many years. Our classrooms were right next to each other so we often popped in and out of each other's spaces to share the 'joy' of teaching. We enjoyed a great working relationship as our disciplines were complimentary (Paul's in the Communication Technology & Media Arts and mine in Visual Arts & Photography). Our classrooms were the first ones students passed by on thier way into school, and again, on their way out, at the end of the day (to catch the bus). Every morning and afternoon without fail, Paul would stand just outside his classroom door to greet, not just his students, but every student, ...to wish them a good morning, share a smile or polite joke. Then again, on their way out at the end of the day, he would be there again, wishing them a good evening, ...a very positive way to bookend your day, having a wonderful, genuine, positive human being wishing you well. My thoughts are with Paul's family as you mourn his passing, ...he brought a smile to many a face, ...l can't help but smile when l think of him.

A little story we often remember of your days in Bromley. We lived in the top flat above you in 13A London Road, Bromley (UK) A squirrel got into the house so Joe Ridgley came with his Bee Bee gun to shoot it. Little Nichole said, “Joe won’t shoot me, because I’m not a squirrel!” I think she was just a bit scarred. We have missed your family ever since you left Bromley. Our love and prayers are with you.

I had the opportunity to work with Paul for several years at St. Thomas Aquinas secondary school. We would speak every day and often as our classrooms opened up to each other. Paul is always well spoken, intelligent but most importantly he was very funny. He often played jokes on other teachers and thoroughly enjoyed what he was doing. He was missed by me after he retired. My condolences to the family

To Cindy and the Theriault family:
I want to express my sincerest condolences to all of you for Paul's passing. Paul worked for me prior to his career in teaching. I remember him fondly as a gentle soul who got along well with everyone at Pear Creative. He was a pleasure to work with.
Let me start with his humour. He relished the idea of including on his income tax form that he was a 'stripper' by profession (one of many things he did). Of course, back then a stripper was one who prepared film in the printing process and didn't have anything to do with the other kind. Not only was his humour in word but he initiated practical jokes on those he worked with.
I remember coming up to our second floor one morning to find a pair of blue jeans and boots stuffed to look very 'life like'. He positioned the legs on the floor so they could be seen in the entrance hallway while the rest of the 'body'(at least that's what one would think) extended into an adjoining room. Poor Kathy! His practical jokes were always in good taste.
I must say I gave him a few creative photography challenges we had never tackled before but he was up for taking them on offering suggestions, expertise and professional execution (and probably some trepidation too). His work ethic was exemplary.
Paul was supportive of the other staff members. He was sensitive in sharing an encouraging word or an experience from his own personal life, or offering to pray for someone. All of us appreciated that about him. I remember his strong desire to follow Christ and share Him with others.
It was a pleasure to read he also touched many lives as a teacher.
Well done, good and faithful servant.

A colleague of my Dad at STA, Mr.Theriault taught all three of us Chaney girls. Undeniably one of the greats, but effortlessly so. His class made different pockets of students all feel welcome, CNN constantly playing in the background gave us a greater sense of the world, and the freedom in his teaching style allowed us the opportunity to succeed in our own creativities. Always genuine, kind, and smiling; an infectious presence. He was just a person that I so enjoyed, and I felt so honoured when years after school he continued to keep in touch on Facebook. His class gave me a whole new outlook on photo and video editing, something I’ve always kept as a bit of a hobby. Just a few months ago, he commented on a group of photos I’d posted that I had “a great photographic sense” and “made the ordinary look extra ordinary”. I was so proud of that comment, and isn’t that the truest sign of a great teacher… when their approval still means so much more than 15 years later? I’m so sorry for your family’s loss, his love for all of you was always at the forefront of his online presence and it was so inspiring. From all of us Chaneys, thanks for everything Mr. Theriault.

We met and knew Paul in Kitchener when he looked like the young man on the right in that amazing photo. In recent years, we've known Paul, the man on the left, through his always interesting, sometimes thoughtful and sometimes playful, Facebook posts and photos. It was obvious that he loved Jesus unreservedly and that he cherished his family, especially his grandkids. We are so very sad that you have lost him in this life at such a (relatively) young age. We will miss his facebook presence...his posts gave us much to think about and many smiles. We pray that each family member will know the close presence and comfort of Jesus as you navigate the coming days without your beloved friend, Husband, Dad and Grandpa.
